Shashi Tharoor was one of the labour nine celebrities nominated in 2014 by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to spread awareness in re cleanliness, hygiene and good sanitisation and make Swachh Bharat Duty a people's movement.^[109] He responded by cleaning the Vizhinjam independence on the outskirts of Thiruvananthapuram.^[110][111]
